Outwait is developed and operated by Danny Saltaren. This policy covers this website and the Outwait Chrome extension, previously called Anchor.

What the extension does

The extension helps you pause on selected websites and filter explicit text and images on supported Reddit and X pages. Content classification runs on your device. It does not send page content to a hosted AI service.

Data processed on your device

To apply your settings, the extension reads relevant website addresses and supported page content, including text and images. Your selected domains, filtering preferences, language and optional personal goal are stored in your browser. A goal can include a label, reason and support preference. The extension keeps up to 20 recent pause or support moments and their outcomes. Active moments are temporarily associated with browser tab identifiers.

It does not keep a browsing-history log or retain the search queries, post text or images it classifies. Classification may process sensitive website content, but that content is not uploaded to us.

Network requests and the optional Mac connection

Some images already present on supported pages may be fetched again from Reddit or X image hosts for local analysis. These requests are made without browser credentials; the host still receives normal network information such as your IP address and the requested image address. Those services have their own privacy policies.

If you choose to connect the extension to the companion Mac app, a temporary pairing code establishes an encrypted connection to the app on your own computer. The extension stores a local connection credential and synchronization metadata. It receives your selected goal and shares only explicit pause or support moments created after pairing, with their identifiers, timestamps and outcomes. It does not share visited URLs, browsing history, search queries, post text or images through that connection.

Records received by the Mac app may sync through your private Apple iCloud account. Disconnecting the extension does not delete records already saved in the companion app or iCloud. Other companion-app features, including chat and purchases, are outside the scope of this extension policy and must be reviewed in the policy provided with that app.

This website and support

This website is hosted by Vercel, which processes request information such as IP addresses, requested paths and browser details to deliver and secure the site under its privacy policy. We do not add analytics, advertising trackers, a mailing-list form or nonessential cookies. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include, through our email provider, Google. Please do not send browsing history, private images, pairing codes or sensitive personal notes.

How information is used and shared

Information is used to provide the features you select, respond to support requests and maintain security. We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to data brokers. Service providers may process information necessary to host the website and deliver support email. We may disclose information we hold where legally required, to protect rights or security, or in connection with a business transfer subject to applicable privacy protections.

Outwait’s use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only for the extension’s disclosed purpose and related operations.

Retention and your controls

Settings and connection data remain locally until you change or delete them. Recent moments are capped at 20; temporary session data is cleared with the browser session. Use “Delete local data” in the extension to clear its local and session records, disable its rules and disconnect it. You can also revoke site access or uninstall the extension. Delete companion-app and iCloud records separately in those services.

We retain support correspondence only as needed to handle the request, maintain necessary business records or meet legal obligations. Hosting logs follow Vercel’s retention controls. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of personal information we hold. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing, obtain a copy or complain to your local privacy regulator. We cannot retrieve data held only in your browser or private iCloud account.

Legal bases and international processing

Where applicable, we process data to provide requested services, with your consent for optional features, to meet legal obligations, and for legitimate interests in security and responding to support. Providers may process website and support information in the United States or other countries under applicable safeguards.

Adults and changes

Outwait is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. We will update this page when practices change and obtain additional permission where required.
