A feed that feels more like you
A few small choices can help shape what comes next. Start with whichever feels useful.
“Hide with Outwait” keeps an item out of view in this browser. It doesn’t tell the platform you’re not interested. Use its own feedback option to send that signal.
Use them in the browser
On iPhone, try using X, Reddit and Instagram in your browser, with their app notifications off. This does not filter posts on your iPhone. On your computer, use the Outwait extension in Chrome when it becomes available.
- On a suggested post, open the three-dot menu and choose “Not interested”. You can move on once you’ve sent the signal.
- In the Instagram app, look in Content preferences for Sensitive content and choose Less, if available.
- For a fresh start, look for Reset suggested content in Content preferences. Review Instagram’s explanation before confirming; recommendations will build again from your interactions.

- On an unwanted recommendation in For You, open the three-dot menu and choose “Not interested in this post”, when offered.
- Review the accounts and Topics you follow. Keep the ones you want to hear from, and unfollow those that no longer fit.
- On a recommended post, open the three-dot menu and choose “Show fewer posts like this”.
- If the whole community isn’t for you, use the mute option. Muting excludes it from Home recommendations and Popular, but not every surface, such as search.
These signals can influence recommendations, but can’t guarantee what appears. Menu names and available controls may vary by account, app and language.
